Route DescriptionY Tri ChwmThis ride
can be ridden in many different loops, starting from Hobo there are
a number of route options of around 20 miles. This route was put together with members of the Tredegar MTB club. Over the years I'd ridden different trails with most of the members. I was amazed that many members only rode the trails they knew. We decided to way-mark the trails to encourage riders to explore more of the trails in their "back-yard". What started as a simple idea took nearly 3 years to complete! We got funding from the Lottery and Communities First project, lots of help and support from the local council and landowners. Most of the post erecting task was done by TEMS, part of the Tredegar Development Trust. It seemed so simple to bang in a post and attach a way-marker to it. Getting to some of the remote locations carrying a post and tools is not so easy and very time consuming. But the biggest delay was the Forestry's lack of co-operation. We thought that it would be straight forward as the forestry has built MTB routes at Cwmcarn and Afan Argoed and have a statement that says forestry land is open to cyclists. Fortunately we found a way around them because they still refuse to co-operate with us. |
